Trash to Treasure / Candy Floral Star

A friend of mine recently decided to downsize while moving. She posted this lovely wooden star as “for gives”. I immediately pounced because I loved shape and the size of it! When I got it home I had no idea what I was going to do with it and it sat, untouched, on my back porch.

This summer I did a “back porch re-do” and I knew that I wanted the star to be my centerpiece!

We decided to use stuff we already had because we didn’t have any (ANY) money to do the back porch reimagining.

The Star as it was.

Materials! The plastic flowers are actually those old-school paper plate holders for picnics.

First, we painted the flower teal:

Teal! My favorite color.

Then we used the plastic “stencils” to add poppy, colorful flowers.

It didn’t have enough flowers, though.

So we added more flowers!

Candy floral deliciousness!

Notice all the holes lining the star? Well, in my next post, I’ll show you how we added lighting to the star to make it twinkle!
