It is SO easy to overdo it during the holidays. Last year I had three arbolitos (Christmas trees) up because I could’t let go of my mercury glass and Shiny Brite ornaments. I wanted to see them one more time! This year, I wanted Viva to be able to interact with el arbolito, but having a toddler is rough. Everyone who has one at home can sympathize.

This year, rather than cloister the Christmas tree or put it up higher than usual like I did last year, I really wanted V to be a part of the decorating and I also wanted her to enjoy the tree.  So I’m keeping it simple this year with one silvery tinsel tree and all the unbreakable (less breakable) ornaments I can muster. Our little arbolito is up and she absolutely loves it!!

V really wants to tackle the Christmas tree, but she has, thus far, shown restraint. She is content arranging and rearranging the ornaments on the tree and I’m happy to let her.
Behold, our toddler-friendly, but still fun and kitschy, Christmas Tree:

Everything on the tree (including the tree!) were thrift store finds! It is incredible how much cheer you can spread with some ingenuity and a good eye for what you love!
